Another early flight, but we were both ready to leave Naples. Another 10 minute walk from the airport metro, and we were able to set our stuff down in the latest Airbnb.
We decided to see any sights we wanted the first day, so we could spend today at the beach. We headed back to the metro towards the Acropolis. Immediately off the train, the city came alive. We stopped for some octopus and Greek salad, sangria for me, beer for Addam. It was a great spot to watch people walk by and get harassed by overzealous flower ladies, and the meal was delicious... probably my favorite in my travels so far.
We finished up and headed toward the Acropolis, which is just 5 minutes off the metro. Another awe inspiring piece of history. The climb was a bit scary in places as we slipped around, but the view at the top was worth it. Not only do you see the ancient ruins, but there is a 360° view of all of Athens. Beautiful.
After spending a couple hours walking and taking in the sights, we strolled the pedestrian roads at the bottom of the hill and enjoyed a colorful variety of merchant shops and restaurants. I found most of my souvenirs here. A dinner of lamb, pasta, spinach pie, and wine and we were ready to go home for the evening.
Slept in this morning and woke up to oddly timed church bells, twice (its Sunday), and packed up to go to the beach. Great to get in an ocean again. Add sun tired to travel tired. Oy. Snapped some photos of graffiti I liked on the walk home.
Looking very chic!!
